As part of their routine practice, Mastercard (or VISA) communicates with Fifth Third about data compromises that occurred. Your card account has been identified as having a high likelihood for fraudulent activity. To protect your card and account, we have elected to reissue your card.

Compromises are serious. Fraudulent activity may occur if the card is not replaced. The fraud dispute process can be more inconvenient to customers than simply having a card replaced. While many customers do not experience fraud when a compromise is reported, the risk of exposure still exists if the cards are not replaced. To protect our customers, minimize inconvenience and losses, Fifth Third Bank requires compromised cards to be replaced.

No. It simply means that your account information has been exposed to fraudsters and there is a high likelihood of fraud occurring on the account. To protect our customers, minimize inconveniences and losses, we may choose to reissue your card if the account has been compromised.

You should contact the merchant(s) immediately upon receipt of your replacement card(s) and provide them with the new card number and expiration date. This process may be as simple as logging into the corresponding merchant(s) site and updating the information yourself.

Yes. For each physical transaction, your contactless card securely transmits a unique one-time "digital" card number that encrypts your card information. The one-time "digital" card number ties back to your credit card number, allowing you to complete the transaction while keeping your actual card number safe and secure.

Yes, all Fifth Third credit cards are digital wallet ready. Fifth Third supports Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay digital wallets. To add, go to "Wallet" on an Apple device, or "Android Pay" on an Android device. From there, follow the prompts to add your Fifth Third card. Yes, you can access your credit card statement anytime through the mobile app or online banking at 53.com. On the mobile app, log in and select the card for which you would like to view the statement, click View Documents, then Statements & Documents and select the statement you would like to view. For online banking, log in to 53.com, select Documents and then select the card you wish to see statements for and the timeframe from the drop-down options.

Yes. You can make one-time payments anytime from online banking at 53.com and the mobile app. You can also set up automatic payments. With automatic payments, you have the option to pay your minimum payment due, statement balance or a fixed amount, and we'll make the payment for you each month. To make payments, log in to online banking or the mobile app, select the card you would like to make a payment on, and then select Make Payment. From there, you will have the choice of account from which you want to make the payment and can follow the instructions to set the amount, date and frequency for either one-time or automatic payments.

You can set up alerts within online banking at 53.com or the mobile app at any time. Once logged in to online banking, you will see an Alerts option on the left hand side of the page. Select Alerts, then Manage Alerts to select the account and types of alerts you wish to receive. In the mobile app, click on your Profile, select Manage Alerts and then select the account and types of alerts to receive.

Yes. You can report your card lost or stolen through Jeanie, online banking or the mobile app. To use Jeanie, log in to online banking at 53.com or the mobile app, click the Chat button in the bottom right corner to engage Jeanie and type instructions for what you are looking to do. Jeanie will walk you through the steps needed to report your card lost or stolen. If you're using online banking, you can select the card you wish to report lost or stolen by going to the Services tab and selecting the Manage Card option. You will see the option to report that card lost or stolen. If you're using the mobile app, select the card that is lost or stolen, then tap Manage Card at the bottom of the screen. Select the card again and then confirm if the card is lost, stolen or damaged. You also have the option to report your card lost or stolen 24/7 by calling 800-782-0279, option 1 and following the prompts.

There could be several reasons why your card could be declined:

1. We may think that the transaction you're attempting is fraudulent. Check to see if you've received a text alert from us, and respond accordingly.
2. You may have reached your available balance or our maximum daily purchase limit of $10,000.
3. Check the mobile app to see if you've locked your card.

Your previous business day balance consists of all transactions that have been posted to your account. Available balance reflects funds in your account available for immediate use. Pending transactions which have not yet posted to your account may affect your available balance.

Some merchants will pre-authorize a debit or credit card to ensure that it is a valid and active account, essentially placing a $1 hold on your account. The pre-authorization amount will remain until the merchant submits the actual amount of the transaction for payment and it posts to your account. Once the payment posts, the $1 pre-authorization will come off your account. This process typically takes 2-3 business days.
