Neighborhood Program
Transforming disinvested neighborhoods through strategic investments
and community development.
Fifth Third's Neighborhood Program is our place-based economic development program designed to spur economic mobility for all.
We work with public, private and community partners to identify areas within Fifth Third’s Consumer Bank footprint that have been historically disinvested or are economically disadvantaged. We then meet with residents to assemble and concentrate all our resources—intellectual, social and financial—to cause a positive ripple effect that leads to:
- Business corridor revitalization
- Small business growth
- Affordable housing
- Financial and workforce education and development
- Healthy, safe spaces
Program Goals
Improve upward mobility among residents
Increase homeownership rates and reduce resident displacement, generate wealth, and foster a higher sense of value, agency and belonging.
Build an inclusive, civic infrastructure
Strengthen the capacity of local stakeholders to sustain efforts and expand services and programs that support residents’ economic mobility.
Promote prosperous small businesses
Increase entrepreneurship and achieve greater growth and retention of small businesses.
Create more connected systems
Strengthen links across stakeholder groups, including businesses, the community and other institutions; improve availability and delivery of Fifth Third lending products in underserved areas.
Develop healthy, built environments
Reduce vacancies and abandoned buildings and develop plans for improved walkability and availability of open spaces.
